Nope, just the same old cycle. Way back in the day ya needed MAs to survive, so they where common, then as time went on they became less useful on a dayly basis and became less common, then martial arts sports ame into veiw and they expanded again, and then desended, and again and again and agian.

Not so long ago boxing was not just popular but, common, then it fell out of favor, next up is MMA, it’ll die down, just give it time. Right now everybody thinks that they can be a asskicking bigshot, but most will just learn some basics and chill out.

Martial arts is not a trend, it is a way of life. The only reason why people want to do martial arts is because of the UFC crap and all the fighting movies you see on TV. I can tell you first hand, that once you step in a dojo, it is not going to be like that on TV. MMA is crap, you try using mma against a arnis fighter, he will rip your arm off. MMA has a place as a ring sport and nothing else…

it really shouldn’t be called MMA … rather MMS (mixed martial sport) I am a fan … but the Lesnar thing show me he has no art…. he can fight dont get me wrong… But its not entertaining to me… and there is no art in that… martial arts isnt a trend in america, they have been around since the 50′s (and their origins can be trace back before Jesus)… I think they are here to stay… I just hope the lessons behind the fighting arent lost

well how many take it up and stick with it?
look at boxing before MMA that was the fighting sport everybody watched.
people wanted to do it but how many stuck with it?
      it takes money and dedication.

MMA is just famous alot of people will drop out from martial arts after seeing it takes time to learn.
