isn’t the sport that the UFC broadcast called MMA? UFC is just a brand or organization that airs MMA events. Why is it being listed as a sport along side of Football, Basketball, Soccer, and etc…? ESPN has it as “MMA”

because its still young and even though its hot right now its still not widely understood. give it time. if you called nfl or mlb a sport people would know what you were talking about.

I know its pretty annoying. If things continue like this it will end up being called ufc permanently.

The UFC has evolved into a Sport over the last 12 years. The first event was November 12 1993 under the banner No Rules. However having stated this it was really under scrutiny from the politicians. The sense it has become a sport is simple. Now you have weight classes, judges, rounds and restarts. It has been down at Atlantic City numerous times now in the early days it would not have been sanctioned. I think it is fair now to term it as a sport.
