Guatemala Sinkhole Due to Storm Agatha — The Guatemala Sinkhole suddenly appeared in the northern part of the place where storm Agatha hit. People in the area said that the sinkhole had been caused by the poor underground sewage drainage system. The officials said that the Guatemala sinkhole might be the effect of having to do with the kind of humidity level of the soil Guatemala have.
After the tropical storm Agatha who hit Guatemala recently might have caused this massive sink hole. According to Gizmodo, this kind of sink hole is a natural depression caused by the removal of soil by water. This process normally happens slowly but sometimes the land just cracks open. A local newspaper also had reported that a security guard was killed when the giant sinkhole opened up, and local residents claim a three-story building and a house fell into the hole. But these reports wasn’t confirmed yet by the media.
