From what I’ve read (pretty much assumptions), the whole music video is based on the controversy of gay couples/sex in the strict religious world.
… that’s all I really know. I never really watched the whole thing because I got scared from the random screaming of the half naked monks. Lol. But I’m a GaGa fan =D

The meaning:
She’s in love with a man, who’s in love with another man, but she’s leaving them and their screwed up ways behind. She doesn’t want to be controlled by her emotions for Alejandro. She doesn’t want Alejandro who wants Fernando, who reminds her of Roberto (her ex before Alejandro).
Either that, or her current boyfriend (Alejandro) reminds her of her ex, Fernando. So, she’s leaving the memories (current and old, Alejandro and Fernando) behind. As for Roberto? Who the fuck is he, and where does he come in?

I’m not gay or anything but I liked it because it’s really different from the music videos I typically see. I’m also Catholic and yes I found the video a little raunchy with the rosary in her mouth but at the same time I think the church should change the way they view gay people because gays aren’t accepted being that they can’t marry in the church. I think that she did a very good job with the choreography. I think people are mostly upset because they’re are homosexuals and religious symbols in the video and society doesn’t want them to go together. Everyone is like the video doesn’t match the song. Well maybe that was her intention so she can portray the suppression of gay people and society should stop being ignorant. It was raunchy but look at the big picture.
