The purpose was to have a judge who didn’t necessarily have producer qualifications, but a regular music fan who might buy the songs. I have to admit, though I like Ellen as far as being a comedian goes, she does get on my nerves sometimes, so I’m not sure how it’s going to be. What I do know, is that no one can replace Paula and she will be sorely missed. This season will determine whether or not I continue to watch, that is for sure.
I mean I hate to say this, but anyone could really be a judge on that show. It isn’t too hard to figure out which ones can sing and which ones can’t. Besides, after the official contestants are on the show, it’s up to the audience, not the judges to decide which one has talent. The judges are more on the sidelines.
The show jumped because of Sanjaya.
Oh I know! I was shocked when I found out that she was the new judge. She is the worst choice possible probably. She doesn’t know anything about music. I didn’t really watch it the last 2 seasons and will continue to do the same this year. The only part I really watch is the auditions because they are pretty funny, and the finale. I also will watch when they have famous guest judges but really that’s it. Paula shouldn’t have left, and they should not have gotten a new judge last year.
I was just discussing with my mom that they need someone with musical talent on the show. I mean put Steve Tyler, Madonna, Lionel Richie on the show. They have been in the music business.
The only thing American Idol has produced is intolerable garbage. I know because I work at a place where that junk is spewed out of the PA system once a week for 10+ hours. They jumped the shark during their first season.
