Android is a type of Operating System (OS) that a phone uses, or a type of software. It became popular toward the end of 2008 and has now become very popular. It is used for advanced smartphones, and AndroidOS can do alot of things. Androids are the main competitor against the iPhone, which runs on one of the AppleOS, not Android. There are many different phones that use an Android operating system, and all carriers have at least 2 different Androids. For example, Verizon has the Droid Incredible, a Droid X, the Samsung Fascinate, and more which are all Android. There are low-range androids (Huawei Ascend around $ 100), mid-range with more features and faster speeds (Samsung Transform around $ 150), and high range androids with many features and high prices (HTC Evo or Samsung Epic, priced at an average of $ 225). Some low or mid range Androids are free with a contract. Hope I helped.
