Just because someone watches or likes American Idol doesn’t mean they’re smart or stupid. You shouldn’t judge someone just based on what they watch on tv.

It’s a reflection of the US in general, not just being an AI viewer. Most of us care more about entertainment than intelligence.

American Idol – tickles the get rich quick dream a lot of people have. it has the same kind of following professional sports has. you have people with a certain amount of talent and want to see if they can take it some where and accomplish something with it. what’s sad is all girls think they can dance and there are people who think they can sing or play professional sports but have never put the work required into developing their skills to level high enough to get the job. it’s rare for someone to just walk off the street with natural ability and get the job.
The average AI viewer is just that, an average viewer. They watch for the entertainment value and not because they are obsessed.
I’m an average AI viewer (intelligent, productive member of society), but I wouldn’t be caught dead jumping up and down and screaming in an audience. Jeez, I didn’t even do that for stars like Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, Paul McCartney and the like let alone do it for wanna bes.
i watch it for the first 2 or 3 weeks only. after that, it gets boring…oh…to answer the question, low.
I don’t jump up and down or scream, but I thoroughly enjoy American Idol. And I’m a college grad. married to a college professor.
It is entertainment and it has nothing to do with intelligence. If a singer gets you all excited then you react, by jumping. That is what young people do at concerts anyway. I know people of all ages that watch that show and they thoroughly enjoy it….. You did not hit a nerve, it is only an observation.

I watch only for the train wreck factors b-cuz they were hilarious. But they seem to have gotten rid of most of the funny auditions. I’m getting ready to bail on Idol…..boring.
I watch the show are u saying I’m dumb?? And does that even concern you, the intelligence of the viewers and why? But just so you know I’m in the tenth grade and have a 3.1 GPA
